What is the Deacon Matheson Memorial Scholarship?
A corner stone in the Ontario piercing scene, Deacon Matheson dedicated more than two decades of his life to practicing safe, consensual, and skillfully executed piercings within his community. Deacon had a passion for sharing knowledge with anyone who requested his insight. A phrase which he commonly spoke was “a rising tide lifts all boats“. That, in essence, is who Deacon was.
Someone who uplifted others through building relationships, sharing knowledge, and giving opportunity for others to be heard. By sharing knowledge, we all move forward. Tragically, the community lost Deacon on March 7th, 2024.
As a way of honouring his memory, a scholarship has been created in his name.
The Deacon Matheson Memorial Scholarship aims to help fellow Canadian piercers an opportunity to attend the annual Association of Professional Piercers Conference.
